Ramblings of a Recruiter Updates

I’ve started writing a new blog post (and subsequently deleting it because I’m lost on the direction I want to go) more times than I can count in the past few months.

If I’m being honest, I got a little burnt out: in life, in my job, and in blogging. So many things have taken a backseat in my life, and 2022 is the year that I’m starting to rectify it.

I started with accomplishing some small personal tasks: finally unlocking an online account of mine that I had forgotten the password to long ago, booking the hotel block for my wedding, etc. As a side note, I’m forever thankful to my boss who pointed out that the Madison Ironman was on my wedding date, kicking my butt into gear a little quicker. For those of you who don’t know, it’s one of the largest events in the city all year - very convenient that I picked that date to get married!

Next, I started taking steps in reconnecting with IT folks I had lost touch with that I wanted to connect with again. I’ll be the first to admit, this one is still a work in progress. Recruiting for 3 years and looking back on everyone you’ve talked to makes you realize how long 3 years in a job really is! Ultimately, I want to build lasting relationships with the people I work with. Doing this has been a great starting point in doing that.

Lastly, I’m going to revamp the blog! It’s no secret that I’ve been a little MIA on this platform recently, and that’s something I really regret. This blog has (hopefully) provided a lot of help and guidance to the job seekers that have followed it. I really want to continue that legacy with some new ideas and fresh content.

My passions lie in helping people gain access to the opportunities that might have not been available to them before. I used to think I could only do this through volunteer work and supporting non-profits, which I did pretty heavily throughout college. Through recruiting and this blog, I’ve realized I can accomplish this passion in so many other ways.

This is where you all come in. I want my content completely driven by user input and inquiries in order to stay relevant. Every post from here on out will have a section in the comments where the reader can list any topics they’re curious on or questions they want answered. If the answer to the question is quick, I’ll group it together with multiple in a Q&A style blog post. If it requires more explanation, it will get it’s own post.

Oftentimes as a recruiter, it becomes challenging when you realize that you can’t help everyone. You’re not always going to have a job that fits what someone wants, which is a hard pill to swallow starting out. Through this blog, I want to have the chance to help everyone and anyone that wants to engage!

In the comments section, you’ll already find a place to stick your suggestion. Please, help a girl out and write anything you’re curious about.

The goal is to stick to a regular, every other week posting schedule. You’ll find posts included on the blog, and also in a LinkedIn post as well.

Excited to see you all in two weeks!
